🔧 XL Cart Belt Kit Installation
For: Factory XL Crazy Cart
This belt kit is designed specifically for factory XL carts. Installation is straightforward, but space is tight in a few areas—take your time and follow each step for best results.
🧰 Step 1: Prep & Disassembly
🛞 Remove the your XL wheel
🔩 Remove the factory chain tensioner completely
🔧Remove factory motor and chain
⚙️ Step 2: Remove Factory Sprockets
-
Remove the motor sprocket
⚠️ IMPORTANT: This sprocket uses reverse threads
👉 Righty = loosey | Lefty = tighty -
Remove the wheel sprocket from wheel
🛞 Step 3: Wheel Pulley Installation
-
Attach the Head Turner belt drive wheel pulley onto the factory XL wheel adapter
🔧 Tighten evenly and ensure it sits flat and then bolt back on to your factory wheel. You will re-use the three bolts/washers holding the adapter to the wheel and your 4 nuts that held on your factory sprocket will be used in conjunction with our black m6 bolts/washers
⚙️ Step 4: Motor Pulley Installation
-
Install the Head Turner belt drive motor pulley onto the motor shaft
-
Do not tighten the supplied set screws yet
🔄 Step 5: Reinstall Motor & Belt
-
Reinstall the motor back into the cart
-
Loop the belt over the motor pulley first
*Make sure not to install the belt with the motor tight. You don't want to force the belt over the bottom pulley like you would a chain. This can cause the belt to pinch and create stress fractures leading to needing a new belt*
🧩 Step 6: Wheel & Belt Installation (Final Step)
-
Reinstall the wheel with the new wheel belt pulley installed
-
Start the belt onto the wheel pulley
-
Spin the wheel while pushing the belt on
-
The belt will walk itself into place
-
Final Step:
- With your motor bolts still loose and the belt installed on both pulleys, align your motor pulley with the wheel pulley. The belt should sit evenly on the motor pulley. Now you can tighten your motor pulley with the supplied set screws and tighten the motor bolts.
🔧 Belt Tension Adjustment (IMPORTANT)
-
If the belt feels too tight, we include 4 black washers
-
Install washers between the motor and the fork to loosen belt tension, start with 1 washers under each of the two bolts that are forward when your steering wheel is pointing forward. Forks vary in length, on average 2 of the 4 shims are required to be used. Make sure not to put just on the sides. The picture below is circled in red is what not to do when putting just 2 washers.
-
Remember the washers go under the fork but above the the motor.

✅ You’re Done!
Your XL belt drive system is now installed.
